Sweater weather is here to stay it seems! Which also means hot drinks instead of cold ones, most of the time! I still have iced coffee a few times a week, because it’s delicious, who cares what season it is! Anyway….
Since it’s been getting chilly here in New England I’ve been experimenting with my Ninja Coffee Bar and all the cool functions that it has – specifically the “Specialty Brew” setting, which is specifically for brewing concentrated amounts of coffee like espresso and such.
I’ve tried a few of the recipes in the little booklet that came with the coffee maker, but I felt confident enough to start trying out my own concoctions! After trying and sometimes failing, and sometimes deliciously winning, I decided to share my FIVE favorite Latte recipes with you!
First though, you’ll need to know how to froth milk. So if you don’t have a milk brother, here is a great video on how to easily froth yo milk!
– Tea Lattes –
All of these start out the same way, and with the exception of an extra ingredient to “jazz” each up they are all made exactly the same way. So the instructions and ingredients are the same for each.
-Tea Bag in the flavor of your choosing
– 4 to 6 ounces of water
– 3 ounces of milk
– 1 to 2 ounces of ***Secret ingredient*** Sweet Cream Coffee Creamer
-Utensils needed for frothing milk (see video above)
Step 1: Brew your tea. Start by making your tea, in a concentrated form. Use 4 to 6 ounces of water to make your tea concentrate. Let the tea bag steep for 10 – 15 minutes.
Step 2: Measure out your 3 ounces of milk and 1 to 2 ounces of creamer. Mix together and froth.
Step 3: Jazz it up!
GREEN TEA LATTE: Green tea + milk + creamer + a squirt of lemon juice.
Fresh, citrusy and energizing!
CHAI TEA LATTE: Chai Tea + milk + creamer + a few cinnamon sticks or some clove.
Spicy, warm and comforting!
SWEET CINNAMON SPICE: Sweet Cinnamon Spice Tea + milk + creamer + ground cinnamon.
A cinnamon roll in a cup!
– Coffee Lattes –
You’ll Need: (for both)
– 4 to 6 ounces of water
– 3 to 4 ounces of milk
Step 1: (for both) Brew your concentrated coffee. If your coffee maker doesn’t have a special setting for a concentrated brew have to fear! Use the LEAST amount of water possible and use the same amount of grounds, or more than usual.
*Some coffee makers need at least 8 ounces of water to brew, and thats ok too! Just add extra coffee grounds and when making your drink either double everything for a large cup, or save half of your concentrated brew for a cold coffee later!
SALTED CARAMEL LATTE: Coffee + Milk + Caramel Sauce + Salt
Step 2: Froth your milk, while your milk is frothing add a pinch of salt to the milk.
Step 3: Add 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce to your coffee and mix well. The caramel can/will settle at the bottom of the cup.
Step 4: Pour your milk into your coffee and gently stir.
MOCHA LATTE: Coffee + Milk + Chocolate Syrup
Step 2: Froth your milk.
Step 3: Mix 1 to 2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup into your coffee.
**Make sure not to put it in the milk first because the chocolate can end up tasting “burnt” if it is over cooked.**
